Embarking on a journey along the North Coast 500 (NC500) in Scotland is an invitation to embrace the extraordinary.
Many choose to drive this stunning loop in 5 days, some challenge themselves on road bicycles averaging 100 miles per day, this July, over 15 days, I intend to run it for Mental Health UK.
Why?
How?
I’m not sure!

I was done . . . spent . . . empty . . . pissed off, with everybody, especially myself, and as a result was questioning why?
Why I was here and what was the point of all of this.
Keep going, stop, walk, run, come on, your weak, No I’m not.
Jeeez Man, this is tough.

WARNING: Use of profanity in this article
“Fozzy” (my nickname to all since I was 15 years old), came the shout from the silver haired man
“Yep” I replied
Come back and pick up their striker who stands by the taker a deal with the threat of the short corner.
I knew what that meant, I walked back begrudgingly, mumbling to myself, “Fuck sake”
For years the topic of dreams versus goals has been a common debate.
As we enter a new year, the debate always intensifies with a reported 58% of the UK population making New Year’s resolution in 2023 – (28% of these will be relating to improved health related goals)
That’s 30 million people taking deliberate steps to better themselves as the year kicks off.
As we are now well into our new year habits, geared towards achieving our goals and dreams for the year ahead, it is important that we know the difference between a dream and a goal.
And which is better.

At the end of every day before I go to sleep at night, I will sit in bed and share my thoughts, feelings and emotions with a notebook beside my bed.
The small orange leather bound pocket notebook is amazing at holding all my frustrations, concerns, and emotions, both positive and negative.
It helps me offload these thoughts to paper ensuring that I prioritise the number one pillar of health, a good night’s sleep.

The Grinch who stole the Christmas run
who stole the fun from everyone
for today Grinch said was a special day
today we must live another way
with food and drink and lots of fun
beware of those who run, run, run!
For they are “selfish, obsessed, even losers”
not your normal yuletide boozers.
So this Grinch set out to change the plan
by hiding the trainers in which we ran.
But soon the Grinch started to believe
the stresses that exercise can relieve
In the Januray sales the Grinch did buy
a fresh green pair of Nike’s AlphaFly.
The Grinch could be seen running roads and pathways
understanding the error of his former ways
this tale is not to prove a point,
but to accept that we all are strange
and it’s not fair to enforce a change
So, embrace the ones that we hold dear,
and let them run this time of year.
My reply . . . . . “well you had better get used to it, because it is one of the best exercises for overall health”
Read moreWe are about to enter the arena of the biggest sporting event on earth, the FIFA Football World Cup, where 32 teams will compete over 4 weeks, across 64 matches in the 22nd edition of the tournament, for the coveted World Cup Trophy.
A time where men become boys again, reminiscing over past Panini sticker albums whilst pinning up their world cup wall chart with Blu Tac stolen from mums’ Family Planner Calendar, not intended to offend, but I simply don’t remember ever trading player cards with girls in the 80’s, I’m sure that is all changing now, especially after the England woman’s brilliant win at the Euros!
A time of excitement, a time where there are 2, sometimes 3, games a day, a time to schedule school, homework, meetings, and social life around so we don’t miss a single game, diligently filling each result in on the walk chart as we go.
And the world loves it.

We all know that person who is happy every time we see them, never a time where they seem affected by any sort of negative emotion, the key to life is to find that happiness in everything we do, well I’m sorry to say it . . . . . but it’s total bullshit.
